Pharmacy First and Treating Minor Illnesses

The new Pharmacy First Service will enable community pharmacists to complete episodes of care for patients without the need for the patient to visit their general practice. They can help with the following Minor Illnesses.

The Practice Nurses see patients in the surgery by appointment.

Their role includes:

  • Family Planning
  • Cervical smears
  • Childhood immunisations
  • Travel health
  • Weight control
  • Healthy lifestyle
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Ear care
  • Wound care

They also manage chronic conditions such as:

  • Asthma
  • Diabetes

The Healthcare Assistants sees Patients in the surgery by appointment for:

  • Phlebotomy
  • NHS Health Checks
  • Healthy Living advice
  • Wound care
  • Adult vaccinations e.g shingles, flu and B12
